Jaipur was based on technological advancements by then king Sawai Jai Singh II. He was impelled by the passion of astrology and the fear of thugs of that time, managed to built a separate fort for gold, soldiers and himself. He became the pragmatic leader who not only thinks about ruling and serving to mugals but also see beyond this. Under his rule India got it's 1st astrological observatory (jantar mantar) which uses Suns position to tell accurate time and other stuff. Today Jaipur

's jantar mantar is the only one functional out of 6 in India. Sawai Jay sing II was also well aware of the water shortage in Rajasthan so he build the 1st and the only fort in India with a rain water harvesting system. His achievements in science and technology was unparalled at that time which made Jaipur the 1st planned city of India.
